Company Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is committed to a tripartite mission of excellence in patient care, education, and research. The Department has over 300 full time faculty and provides services to children throughout Tennessee, the surrounding states, and several countries. Many of the faculty in the Department are pursuing careers in clinical investigation and currently nearly 40% of the faculty hold NIH or other extramural funding, creating a fertile environment for trainees. Department faculty serve on numerous NIH Study Sections and Advisory Panels. Clinical care occurs in the Monroe Carrel Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, a 271 bed facility on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Campus. Clinical care is also provided in several satellite locations throughout middle Tennessee.

Over its 135+-year history, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has built a strong reputation as a leader in medical education, research, and patient care throughout the Southeast and the nation. VUMC traces its roots to the establishment of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1874.
